Vision of the CFI Project

In a knowledge-based economy, the successful exploitation of new ideas ¡V by incorporating innovative technologies, design and practice ¡V is essential. Innovation is vital in order to stay on top of emerging technologies, changing environments, and evolving student and staff needs. Therefore, the CFI proposes a set of initiatives that will enhance the contemporary learning and teaching environment.

However, innovation not only depends on new inventions, but also involves a change of mindset, working culture and practice. To facilitate the development of new and innovative ideas, there must be a cross-functional collaboration within the OUHK. Staff must establish effective communication ¡V formal and informal ¡V with colleagues from other departments who also contribute to the same vision.

It is also important to build up an integrated knowledge-based system to facilitate the sharing of information and increase interactions among OUHK staff, tutors and students. Successful innovation involves communication, integration and collaboration (see Figure 1 below).
